1982
John Rountree receives Bachelor of Architecture from Syracuse University.

1982-1989
For the first eight years after graduation, Rountree gains valuable architectural experience in New York City firms Hellmuth, Obata & Kassabaum, Richard Dattner & Associates, and Beyer, Blinder & Belle Architects.

1990
Rountree Architects is formed, finding an architectural niche in the design of energy efficient, environmentally sound design utilizing non-polluting, renewable energy technologies

1992
AIA/Connecticut Committee on the Environment (COTE) is founded by Rountree. As chairman for three years Mr. Rountree led the COTE in spearheading statewide initiatives to promote sustainable architecture.

1994
Mr. Rountree receives the People's Action for Clean Energy's (PACE) "Business Environmental Energy Award" and is appointed to be on the PACE board of directors.

1997
Solar Consulting Services is added to Rountree Architect's offerings for architects, building owners and developers who wish to integrate renewable energy technologies into their projects.

1998
Mr. Rountree establishes affiliation with Solar Works, Inc. of Montpelier, Vermont as the Director of Architectural Design Services. Currently he is the acting project coordinator for Solar on Connecticut Schools, a multi-disciplinary effort to install Photovoltaic systems on public schools throughout Connecticut.

1999
John Rountree receives CT Department of Environmental Protection's Green Circle Award.

2002
Mr. Rountree is founding member and elected to Board of Solar Connecticut, a 501 (c)(3) organization.

2003
Mr. Rountree receives a grant from the US Department of Energy, under the Million Solar Roofs initiative, to foster the use of solar energy in Connecticut

2005
Mr. Rountree and his partner, Mark Pizzi, launch Westport Solar Consultants to provide analysis, design, and project management services for solar PV installations.

Mr. Rountree has published numerous newspaper and magazine articles and has lectured extensively on the subject of Environmental Architecture and Photovoltaics.
