McCutchen Residence

The house is situated in the Saugatuck Shores area of Westport, Connecticut and has spectacular views of Long Island Sound. The McCutchens came to Rountree Architects to design an addition to the house that would capitalize on the view and give them the additional space they needed. Because the addition is in a tidal flood zone it had to be built on timber pilings and designed to withstand flood surges.

The addition includes a home office on the first floor and large living room with vaulted ceilings on the second floor. Both have access to a generous deck overlooking the water with great views of Long Island in the distance. Many internal remodelings were also made including a new kitchen.
