We believe that the environmental and health impacts of our dependence on fossil fuel and nuclear energy are unacceptable. We are convinced that the switch to clean renewable energy is inevitable.

Our goal is to accelerate that process by educating ourselves and others about the technologies that exist today and to assist our forward thinking clients in adopting these life affirming products and techniques.

Most of the buildings we design and build today use fossil fuels and or nuclear energy for heating, cooling and electricity. Each of these resources is inherently unsustainable. Burning fossil fuels (coal, oil and natural gas) adds heat trapping greenhouse gases to the atmosphere and creates smog.

Nuclear energy creates nuclear waste which difficult and expensive to store. Nuclear reactors are also potential targets for terrorism.

According to the Worldwatch Institute, buildings consume 40 percent of the energy we use in this country. In the last hundred years, the amount of heat trapping carbon dioxide in the air has risen 27 percent, of which one quarter has come from the combustion of fossil fuels to provide energy for building. This build-up threatens ecosystems, agriculture and human settlements with higher temperatures, and has dramatically changed weather patterns.

 The sun is a God-given energy resource that is unlimited in its ability to meet our energy needs. It is reliable and free. We need only to design our buildings to accept this resource and to use its energy efficiently.
